Sierra7 Awarded Section 508 Enablement Contract by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs

Falls Church, VA – 25 April 2022. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Information & Technology (OIT) and the Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) issued Sierra7, Inc. a $7.9M multiyear award for Section 508 Enablement services. Prime contractor Sierra7 is a Center for Verification and Evaluation (CVE)-verified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) which over the past 10 years has guided and managed the successful design and execution of more than 50 projects in support of VA. This contract will support VA’s continued success in selecting and deploying Information Technology (IT) products which provide full access and functionality for the Veteran community as well as agency employees with disabilities.

This critical mission is accomplished under the auspices of VA’s Section 508 Program Office and Auditing Facility, an organization within VA which ensures agency compliance with the Federal Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility and Compliance Act governing access and usability standards for technology products used by individuals with disabilities. A Disabled American Veterans (DAV) recognized ‘Patriot’ employer, Sierra7 received this award through VA’s Transformation Twenty-One Total Technology-Next Generation (T4NG) contract vehicle and will provide skilled and independent validation and assessment of VA Information and Communication (ICT) products, Electronic & Information Technology (E&IT), and other agency technologies collectively subject to Section 508 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards to support VA’s mission.

Given the dynamic nature of the technology marketplace, VA (through the OIT and EPMO) operates as a leading example of a federal agency committed to providing disabled Veterans and employees alike with technology affording users seamless access and full product functionality needed to meet daily activities such as using technology to secure health services, search employment opportunities, or perform job functions. Under this important T4NG task order, Sierra7 will help test, evaluate, and validate IT product functionality and user-interface to ensure each IT product procured, deployed, and maintained by the agency, as well as all associated Assistive Technologies (AT), meet Section 508 and WCAG standards.

“This critical task order embodies the unique challenges faced by federal agencies to address the rapid change in the technological landscape while inclusively meeting the essential needs of the community of disabled Veterans and agency employees. We are truly honored to help VA optimize their mission of supporting and serving the needs of Veterans,” said Sierra7 Chief Growth Officer, Gina Gallagher.
